Hollenhorst Plaque

A Hollenhorst plaque is a cholesterol embolus in a retinal arteriole.

Testing for carotid artery plaques (source of the embolus) and blockage and serum lipid (cholesterol and triglyceride) levels is appropriate when a Hollenhorst plaque is seen.
