Age-Related Macular
Degeneration (AMD)
AMD is the leading cause of legal blindness in people over the age
of 60. The macula is the specialized area in the center of the retina that
allows us to see detailed, central vision. The macular damage that occurs in
AMD can result in extreme loss of central vision.
Many advances in diagnosis and treatment of AMD have occurred
recently and are employed in the practice, including intravitreal Avastin, Lucentis and Eylea treatment, and photodynamic therapy with Visudyne.
